Steven Luo, D.D.S. is a California Board licensed cosmetic and family dentist. After obtaining a Bachelor of Science degree in general biology at the University of California San Diego, Dr. Luo received his dental degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts. While at Tufts, Dr. Luo was the honorable recipient of the Tufts Academic Merit Scholarship. He was then selected to participate ina one-year hospital dentistry residency at the Sepulveda Veterans Administration Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. In the hospital setting, Dr. Luo managed many medically compromised patients and received specialty training in advanced dental techniques.
Dr. Luo's memberships in professional societies include the Academy of General Dentistry, the San Diego County Dental Society, the California Dental Association, and the American Dental Association. Dr. Luo places strong emphasis on continuing education and has been involved with numerous dental study clubs.
Dr. Luo was fortunate enough to be selected as one of only 25 sites in the U.S. to participate in a clinical study sponsored by Novalar Phameceuticals, Inc. The study was performed to help find an alternative to lingering numbness caused by local anesthetics after a dental procedure. As part of the study, Dr. Luo worked as a principal investigator and researched the effects of a new drug called Oraverse, a local anesthetic reversal agent which accelerates the return of normal sensation after a dental procedure. This future product may have a great and far-reaching impact on the future of dentistry and Dr. Luo feels very fortunate for being able to contribute to this.
